toby fox

i am obsessed with literally everything this little white dog creates. his music, his writing, his online presence, his philosophy, he's a neverending creative inspiration for me. effortlessly creating worlds, stories and characters which resonate with me over and over again.

undertale

like most people, this was the first thing of toby fox's that i played. i learned of undertale through youtube, and the boss music compilations that people would post. i fell in love with the music, i found the character designs interesting, and i would imagine their personalities and relationships. it was one of the first digital things i ever asked my mom to buy me, the only reason i was able to convince her was because of how cheap the game was, which i'm so grateful for! i just can't believe that something so impactful for so many people could be created by single person. inspiring!

for my first playthrough, it took me an entire week to get the determination to leave the ruins. i didn't want to leave Toriel behind, it made me feel sick and upset at the thought of leaving her. in my mind, in that week it took me to leave, Frisk lived at Toriel's home... bonding, making pies, exploring the ruins and old home, starting a homeschool schedule. i like to think with Frisk entering the underground in less than happy circumstances, and Toriel's loneliness in the ruins, that their time together was nice for both of them. the music that plays in the ruins never fails to calm me down whenever i'm feeling anxious or stressed. it always takes me back to that first time Frisk and Toriel met, navigating the puzzles, meeting monsterkind for the first time. it gives me the same feeling as nostalgia, but without the yearning.

deltarune

the span of time between chapter 2 and chapter 3/4 was some of the most fun i've ever had being part of a fandom. i'll never forget the dedication and passion that went into that era of the game.
